What is a live zone?

A live zone ingests a stream and fans it out from NetDNA PoPs. It is not a file pull.

When to use live

• Events, 24/7 channels, webinars.
• You already have an encoder (RTMP / similar 2013 ingest).

During cluster maintenance, live traffic fails over to nearby PoPs — that is what the 15 January 2013 Live & VOD incident describes. Pair with EdgeReporting to watch concurrent viewers.
